The Imperial War Museum Manchester
The Imperial War Museum Manchester guides visitors to over 100 years of exhibits, shows, stories and much more at this unique, purpose built museum.
For those planning a trip to the Manchester War Museum should allow around 2-3 hours for the visit. There are many exhibits, galleries and shows to see whilst at the IWM.
As you wander around the main exhibit, you realise you are walking along a timeline of the wars past and present.
Along this timeline you will see a huge collection of over 2000 items, ranging from weapons right to a peice of the steel work from the 9/11 World Trade Centre.
It is an eye opener as you see how advances in not just weapons, but how our soldiers lived and operated in the trenches.
Although we may not associate war as a place where children should be around, the educational side at the Manchester War Museum is fantastic.
Many school trips visit the IWN and they have great resources for children to learn and be educated about our history.
Along with the various galleries and exhibits, the IWM also has shows and events throughout the year which are suitable for all the family.
